The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 in memory of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman whose life was cut short by suicide shortly after her seventeenth birthday. Her family and community transformed profound loss into a commitment to mental health awareness, depression education, and suicide-prevention advocacy. Today, the foundation honors April’s legacy by connecting people with trusted resources, encouraging open conversations, and creating opportunities to support one another. From its roots in western Pennsylvania, the foundation has grown through community fundraising, volunteer involvement, and partnerships that extend its message of hope. Its vision remains clear: bring people together to affect real change, reduce stigma, and ensure no one has to face mental health struggles alone.
The foundation shares mental health awareness and suicide-prevention resources, including prominent access to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and information from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. It also connects supporters with wellness programming through EmpowHer Retreat and offers ways to volunteer or participate in community fundraisers. These resources are intended to encourage education, connection, and timely help-seeking.
