The Foundation Behind the Mission

A community nonprofit honoring April through compassionate prevention advocacy.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 in memory of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman whose life was cut short by suicide one week after her seventeenth birthday. April was known for her warm smile, empathy, love of basketball, and meaningful connections with family, friends, and teammates. Her story inspired a lasting commitment to making mental health, depression, and suicide prevention easier to discuss. From its roots in Pennsylvania, the foundation has grown into an active community nonprofit that brings people together through its annual golf outing, volunteer involvement, the EmpowHer Retreat connection, and an affiliate partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Its vision is to turn personal loss into awareness, support, and real change.
