The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the life of April Tayler Bocian and help ensure that her story creates meaningful change. April was remembered for her warmth, empathy, and care for others, even while she privately faced depression and mental illness. Today, the foundation transforms that loss into advocacy for mental health awareness, depression education, and suicide prevention. From its Grove City base, the organization brings together volunteers, families, donors, and community partners through outreach, fundraising, and wellness-focused initiatives. Its work also reaches the greater Pittsburgh region through partnerships and shared resources. The foundation’s vision is simple and enduring: build compassionate connections, reduce stigma, and help communities support one another before a crisis becomes a tragedy.
The April T. Bocian Foundation’s listed volunteer opportunities are centered on Grove City, Pennsylvania, and the greater Pittsburgh region—not Woodbridge, Virginia. People seeking opportunities in Woodbridge can contact local mental health nonprofits, community centers, schools, or chapters of national organizations such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
