The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 in memory of April Tayler Bocian, whose warmth, empathy, and love of life touched the people around her. After April died by suicide shortly after her seventeenth birthday, her family and supporters created the foundation to ensure her story could foster understanding and help prevent similar loss. Today, the foundation turns remembrance into action through mental health awareness, suicide prevention advocacy, community fundraising, volunteer involvement, and connections to trusted resources. Based in Grove City, PA, the foundation serves as a caring voice for individuals and families across the greater Pittsburgh region who have been affected by depression, mental illness, or suicide loss. Its vision is simple and enduring: bring communities together to create real change.
A suicide prevention walk is a community gathering that brings people together to raise awareness, remember lives lost, support people affected by mental illness, and encourage help-seeking. Participants may walk in honor of someone, share resources, volunteer, or fundraise. The purpose is not only to raise funds, but also to reduce stigma and remind people that compassionate connection can make a difference.
