The Foundation Behind the Mission

Compassionate advocates united by remembrance, awareness, and meaningful community action.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the memory of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman whose life was affected by depression and mental illness. Guided by her warmth, empathy, and love for others, the foundation turns personal loss into a continuing commitment to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. What began as a family’s determination to ensure April’s story could help others has grown into a community-centered nonprofit. Through annual fundraising, volunteer involvement, partnerships with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and support for initiatives such as the EmpowHer Retreat, the foundation creates opportunities for education, connection, and hope. Its vision is clear: bring people together, reduce stigma, and help create real, lasting change.
