Meet Our Foundation Team

Compassionate advocates carrying April’s legacy forward every day.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the life and memory of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman from Pittsburgh who struggled privately with depression and mental illness. Following her death by suicide, her story became a call to encourage more open, caring conversations about mental health and prevention. Today, the foundation serves as a community-centered nonprofit supporting awareness, resource sharing, and meaningful involvement. Through its annual Golf Outing, partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and support for the EmpowHer Retreat, the organization connects people throughout Grove City, greater Pittsburgh, and Pennsylvania. Its vision is simple and enduring: bring communities together to create real change, reduce stigma, and ensure people facing emotional pain know they are not alone.
