Founded in 2015, the April T. Bocian Foundation honors the life of April Tayler Bocian and turns a family’s profound loss into purposeful mental health advocacy. April was known for her warmth, empathy, and love of basketball, yet she struggled privately with depression and mental illness. Her story inspires the foundation’s commitment to candid, compassionate conversations about suicide prevention. From its roots in the Grove City and greater Pittsburgh communities, the foundation brings together families, volunteers, donors, and local supporters through awareness efforts, its annual Golf Outing, and connections with organizations including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The vision remains clear: build supportive communities where people can seek help, share hope, and help create real change.
