The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 in memory of April Tayler Bocian, whose warmth, empathy, and caring spirit touched the people around her. After April died by suicide at age 17, her family and community transformed profound loss into a lasting commitment to mental health awareness, depression education, and suicide prevention. Today, the foundation honors her legacy by connecting individuals and families with supportive resources, encouraging open conversations, and creating opportunities to get involved. Through its annual Golf Outing, affiliation with the EmpowHer Retreat, and partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the foundation brings people together in shared purpose. Its vision remains clear: build compassionate communities where people feel seen, supported, and encouraged to seek help.
The April T. Bocian Foundation honors April’s memory by raising awareness of mental health, depression, and suicide prevention. It connects community members with crisis-support information, promotes the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, supports women’s wellness through its EmpowHer Retreat affiliation, and creates volunteer and fundraising opportunities. The foundation’s work encourages compassionate conversation, education, and practical community involvement.
