The Foundation Behind April’s Legacy

Compassionate advocates carrying remembrance forward through community action.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the life and memory of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman from Pittsburgh whose loss to suicide deeply affected her family, friends, and community. Created from a commitment to ensure that April’s story could help others, the foundation raises awareness of mental health, depression, and suicide prevention. From its Grove City base, the organization brings people together through its annual Golf Outing, volunteer engagement, and partnerships with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and EmpowHer Retreat. Its vision is grounded in compassion: building supportive connections, encouraging open conversations, and helping communities take meaningful action so fewer families face a similar loss.
