Meet The Foundation Team

A community united by compassion, remembrance, and prevention.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the life and memory of April Tayler Bocian. April was known for her warm smile, empathy, and love of basketball, yet she also struggled privately with depression and mental illness. Following her death by suicide, her family and supporters created the foundation to turn profound loss into meaningful action. Today, the foundation brings people together around mental health awareness, suicide prevention advocacy, and compassionate support for those affected by loss. From its Grove City roots to connections across the greater Pittsburgh region, the organization continues April’s legacy through community events, volunteer involvement, partnerships with AFSP, and wellness-focused initiatives such as EmpowHer Retreat.
