The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honour the memory of April Tayler Bocian and transform a family’s profound loss into compassionate action. Inspired by April’s warmth, empathy, and care for others, the foundation raises awareness about depression, mental illness, and suicide prevention. From its Grove City, Pennsylvania community base, the organization brings together families, volunteers, sponsors, and advocates through annual fundraising events and accessible mental health resources. Its work also reaches the greater Pittsburgh region through partnerships with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the EmpowHer Retreat. The foundation’s vision is simple and enduring: bring communities together to create real change, reduce stigma, and ensure no one faces mental health challenges alone.
A charity auction raises funds by inviting guests to bid on donated items, experiences, or services. The highest bidder typically receives each item, while proceeds support the nonprofit’s stated mission. Organizers commonly secure donations, set bidding rules, promote the event, track payments, and thank donors afterward. Silent auctions use bid sheets or digital bidding, while live auctions feature an auctioneer and real-time bids.
