April Tayler Bocian was 17 years old when she died by suicide in May 2015. Her family turned unimaginable grief into a lifelong mission: funding scholarships, empowering young girls, and building a community that refuses to let mental illness go unspoken.

April's smile was the first thing people noticed. Then they noticed how she used it: welcoming new students, defending the lonely, making the forgotten feel remembered. She was a fierce competitor on the basketball court, a devoted daughter, and a friend who genuinely saw people.
She kept her own pain hidden, fighting depression in silence while lifting everyone around her. Her family built this foundation so no other family endures this loss alone, partnering with AFSP, NAMI, and the EmpowHer retreat.

Our MissionOn October 3, 2026, our community comes together at Spring Valley Golf Club in Mercer, PA to raise funds for young girls who need us most. Shotgun start at 10:30 a.m., $100 per golfer. Corporations, local businesses, and individual supporters all have a place here. Come as a team. Come as a sponsor. Come as a neighbor who cares.
