Meet the Foundation Team

Compassionate advocates carrying April’s legacy forward together.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the memory of April Tayler Bocian and turn profound loss into meaningful action. April was remembered for her warm smile, empathy, love of basketball, and the care she showed others. After her death by suicide at age 17, her family and community created a foundation dedicated to raising awareness about depression, mental health, and suicide prevention. Today, the foundation brings people together through its annual Golf Outing, volunteer involvement, mental health resources, and partnerships including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and EmpowHer Retreat. Based in Grove City, the foundation serves as a compassionate voice for prevention across the greater Pittsburgh region, encouraging open conversations, connection, and hope.
