The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the memory of April Tayler Bocian and to turn profound loss into purposeful action. April was remembered for her warmth, empathy, and care for others; the Foundation carries those qualities forward through mental health awareness, depression education, and suicide prevention advocacy. Rooted in the Grove City community, the organization invites individuals, families, volunteers, donors, and local businesses to take part in work that can foster connection and hope. Its efforts extend throughout the greater Pittsburgh region through fundraising events, community involvement, the EmpowHer Retreat partnership, and affiliation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Together, supporters help ensure that conversations about mental health are met with compassion, understanding, and practical pathways to help.
Volunteer opportunities may include helping with fundraising events, supporting awareness outreach, promoting the Foundation’s mission, and contributing skills that strengthen community involvement. The annual Golf Outing is one established way supporters can participate. Because opportunities can vary by current initiatives and event needs, interested volunteers should contact the Foundation to discuss available roles and how their interests can best support mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
