Meet the Foundation Team

Compassionate advocates carrying April’s legacy forward every day.

The April T. Bocian Foundation was established in 2015 to honor the life of April Tayler Bocian, a compassionate young woman whose private struggle with depression ended in suicide shortly after her seventeenth birthday. Her family and supporters created the foundation so that April’s story could encourage understanding, conversation, and prevention. What began as a deeply personal memorial has grown into an active community nonprofit supporting mental health awareness, suicide prevention advocacy, fundraising, and wellness initiatives. Rooted in April’s Pittsburgh story and serving supporters from Grove City and beyond, the foundation brings people together through its annual Golf Outing, volunteer involvement, the EmpowHer Retreat connection, and its affiliation with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Every effort honors April through compassion, education, and hope.
